Uprooting Power: Cultivating Liberation and a World Without Sexual Violence, is Resilience’s first ever conference that seeks to explore how we can shift the paradigm around the anti-violence movement. How can we uproot power to cultivate liberation? How can we share power with survivors within hierarchical institutions? How do the roots of racist, sexist, ableist, and capitalist power stay present even within healing spaces?  

Community organizers, academics, and social workers have crafted tools and frameworks that prevent violence within shared spaces, both fully outside of and in conjunction with institutions. When cultivating a world without sexual violence, we must look toward a horizon of new communities built on consent and turning towards each other while honoring the legacy and lineage of Black and brown feminists and healing practitioners who have been and will continue to build that world. 

Through lectures, workshops, media, and collaborative healing spaces, this conference will offer a myriad of topics, providing participants space to ask questions and cultivate creative, effective solutions to violence. This conference will utilize an intersectional, collaborative, and critical lens to understand and dismantle those systems that have perpetrated violence, while turning over new soil to plant seeds for a future without violence.

This conference is open to anyone who is invested in liberation within the anti-violence movement and will include specialized workshops for prevention educators, sex educators, sexual assault survivor advocates, domestic violence survivor advocates, trauma therapists, activists, community organizers, restorative and transformative justice advocates, students, and survivors of violence.
